Life of Brian (1979)
Date: Saturday 29th September
Location: Dedham Church
Event Duration: 2 hour 10 minutes with interval
Life of Brian, is a 1979 British
comedy film written, directed and largely performed by the Monty Python
Reverend Gerard Moate gives a short introduction to the film and
explains why the film was controversial at the time of its release.
On a midnight clear 2,000 years ago, three wise men enter a manger where a babe is wrapped in swaddling clothes. It is an infant called Brian. The three wise men are in the wrong manger. For the rest of his life, Brian (Graham Chapman) finds himself regarded as something of a messiah, yet he's always in the shadow of this other guy from Galilee. The whole Monty Python gang (Chapman, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, and Terry Gilliam) are on hand in multiple roles
We recommend you bring a cushion to sit on for this performance. Refreshments will be available before the performance and during the interval.
"Python successfully lampoon religious attitudes rather than religion itself."
