A comedy drama set in a North African village and centred on a battle of the sexes, where the women go on a love strike.
Made by the Director of Le Concert, the story takes place in current times, in a small village somewhere between North Africa and the Middle East. With no running water and no electricity, life in Leila's mountain village is not easy. Even worse, it is always the women's responsibility to fetch water from a mountaintop spring in the blazing sun. When one of the village womenfolk suffers a miscarriage making the dusty ascent to the spring, Leila calls on the women to launch a love strike: no more cuddling, no more sex until the men run water into the village.
Refreshments will be available before the performance and during the interval.
"The sheer injustice at the heart of this
tale creates an automatic sympathy for the women, sisters in a way to
the women in Made In Dagenham."
